This policy explains what personal data the Mento app collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Mento is made by Geezcademy (“we”, “us”), Hagalunsgatan, 169 66 Solna, Sweden, which is responsible (the controller) for your data. Contact us any time at geezcademy@gmail.com.
| Data | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, first name and password (stored only as a secure hash) | To create your account and sign you in |
| Courses | Course name, subject, exam date, daily study time and goal | To build your study plan |
| Your material | PDF files you upload, and the topics, concepts and questions Mento creates from them | To teach and quiz you from your own material |
| Study activity | Lessons, quiz answers, written answers, tutor conversations, mastery scores and completed sessions | To measure progress and adapt your plan |
| Subscription | Only once Premium is offered: whether you have Premium, the plan and when it renews. We never see your card details. | To unlock Premium and apply free-plan limits |
| Usage events | In-app events such as “course created” or “quiz completed”, with a timestamp | To understand which parts of Mento help students and to fix problems |
Mento doesn’t access your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone. It only reads the PDF files you choose.
Listen (read aloud) uses your phone’s built-in text-to-speech voices. The text is turned into speech by your phone’s own speech engine; Mento doesn’t send it to us, to OpenAI or to anyone else.
Your material may itself contain personal information (for example notes or assignments). Please don’t upload documents containing other people’s sensitive personal data.
Mento uses OpenAI’s API to analyze your material and to write lessons, practice questions, feedback and tutor answers. When you allow this in the app, we send OpenAI:
We don’t send your name, email address or payment information to OpenAI. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through the API isn’t used to train OpenAI’s models by default. OpenAI may keep inputs and outputs for a limited period to detect abuse, as described in its API data policy. When you delete a document, course or account, we also delete the corresponding files from OpenAI.
AI can make mistakes. Check important answers against your course material. Mento’s mastery and readiness scores are calculated by fixed rules from your quiz results, not by AI, and they aren’t a prediction of your grade.
We use these service providers to run Mento. They process data only on our instructions:
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users. We don’t sell or rent personal data.
Some providers, including OpenAI and RevenueCat, process data in the United States. Where data leaves the EU/EEA or UK, we rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
In the app you can edit your name, delete documents and courses, withdraw AI permission, and delete your account (Settings → Delete my account). Depending on where you live, you also have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. To use these rights, email geezcademy@gmail.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority — in Sweden, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), imy.se.
Data is encrypted in transit. Each student’s data is protected by access rules in our database and storage, so other users can’t see it. AI keys and other secrets are kept on our servers, never in the app.
Mento is made for university and college students. You must be at least 16 to use it. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 16; if you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
These terms apply to your use of the Mento app, provided by Geezcademy, Hagalunsgatan, 169 66 Solna, Sweden (“we”, “us”). By creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 16 and able to agree to these terms. Mento is for personal study. Keep your sign-in details safe; you’re responsible for activity on your account.
You keep all rights to the material you upload. You give us permission to store, process and send it to our service providers, including OpenAI when you’ve allowed it, only so we can provide Mento to you. You must have the right to use anything you upload, for example your own notes or course material you’re allowed to use for study. Don’t upload material that is illegal or infringes other people’s rights.
Lessons, questions, feedback and tutor answers are generated by AI from your material. They can be incomplete or wrong. Mento is a study aid, not a replacement for your course, teachers or official exam information. Readiness and mastery scores show your quiz performance in Mento; they don’t predict your exam result. Use Mento in line with your institution’s academic integrity rules.
Mento is currently free. Each account includes one course and a daily allowance of AI features. If we introduce Premium, these terms apply to it: Premium removes these limits. Premium is a subscription purchased through the App Store or Google Play, which handle payment, renewal and refunds under their own terms. Subscriptions renew automatically at the price shown when you buy unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings; you keep Premium until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting your Mento account doesn’t cancel a subscription.
Don’t misuse Mento, for example by trying to access other users’ data, interfering with the service, reverse-engineering it, using it to generate unlawful content, or reselling access.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law prevents it. We may change or end features; if we stop Mento entirely, we’ll give reasonable notice.
We provide Mento with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, including for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body or health, or your statutory consumer rights. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses or for decisions you make based on AI-generated content.
If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we’ll tell you in the app beforehand. These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in your local courts.
This immediately and permanently deletes your account, profile, courses, uploaded documents (from our storage and from OpenAI), questions, tutor conversations, quiz history, mastery scores and usage events. It can’t be undone.
Email geezcademy@gmail.com from the email address on your account with the subject “Delete my Mento account”. We’ll confirm and delete the account and all the data above within 30 days.
Mento is currently free. If you ever buy Premium, deleting your account doesn’t cancel the subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
You can also delete single documents (Materials → Delete) or whole courses (Settings → Delete this course) without deleting your account.
Questions, problems or feedback: geezcademy@gmail.com. We usually reply within two working days.
